Who was Anthony Sowell?

Anthony Edward Sowell  is a serial killer known also as the Cleveland Strangler. He was arrested in October 2009 after the bodies of eleven women were discovered by police at his Cleveland, Ohio, duplex. Bellow you can find Anthony Sowell – serial killer, police interrogation transcript.

In September 2009, Sowell invited a woman to his home for a drink. The woman, however, reported to police that after having a few drinks, Sowell became angry and choked her and then proceeded raping her after she passed out.

One week later, on October 29, 2009, police went to his home with a warrant to arrest him for the alleged rape. Sowell was not home, but police discovered two bodies in the living room. He was located and arrested on October 31st.

Investigators continued searching his property discovering four other bodies buried in a shallow grave in his basement and crawl spaces, a human skull in a bucket inside his house and three more bodies and the remains of a fourth were discovered buried in the backyard. Sowell killed his victims by strangulation.

Cleveland Bodies Found

He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity but later changed his plea to simply “not guilty. The jury found him guilty and on July 22, 2011, he was convicted, receiving a death sentence. Sowell is on death row since September 14, 2011.
